Developing TV – The World

This wonderful performance that you see video at the end of today could have been ‘Alaska and Coronas’ perfectly. But neither was nor will be. To bring Sia Spain would have been suicidal (and I would have criticized the first and very acid), between that and clear that there is a world Mario Vaquero. And eye that Sia is not a superstar in the U.S. and Ellen is conventional and commercial program butt . Still, they have. Them and not us.

is normal. audiovisually Spain for many things is still a developing country. While the TV flourished and exploring herself back in the 60s and 70s, in this country we were on to other things. Things Paquito and his regime. So our 80s and explosives were so crazy in so many ways. And so our noventero downturn came later and was fatter.

And what is all this? Well we can not ask this country and this tele for things that are not yet ready. We may never be. Globalization came to us before we were ready to assume it and now it’s too late. On television and in many other things.

The Spanish series in general are economically profitable because, in principle, meet a real demand. But just culturally relevant. None has achieved the necessary legitimacy (next week I’ll talk about it here). In the course magnificent TV series Teaching this month Jordi Carrión at MACBA in Barcelona any Spanish series is used as working material. Especially since none belongs to the canon of global television influences that are part of the cultural corpus of my generation and all subsequent. And I fear that I will no longer. Televising Spain (like many other countries, eye) is late for many things On the other hand, that “television nationalism” I read and hear often makes sense. it is a survival tool. “Ours is our”, “ours is made with much less money”, “those who do our very good people,” and so on to infinity. I do not say no, but do not think this “see us, do not despise us, not condemn us” is the solution. Ni comfortable hiding the minority and geek. Ellen’s program is not one of those two things and there you go, pulling against the wall Sia singing ‘Chandelier’. And no, the Spanish equivalent of Alaska that is not inviting her hubby. I refuse.
