Spain with 10 million to help develop DTT in Kenya – The World

DTT is one of the outstanding courses in Spain. The Government should resolve the digital dividend, rearranging DTT channels faced a move to free up radio spectrum for 4G occupy. While deciding how to make that move, the Government has approved a loan of up to 10 million for a project to develop coverage of digital terrestrial television (DTT) in Kenya.

The agreement was initialed in the last cabinet meeting, in which the grant of concessional credit OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) by amount up to 10,388,903 euros , fee was agreed Fund for Internationalization of Business (MSIF) for a development project coverage of digital terrestrial television (DTT) in Kenya.

The Internationalization Fund Company is a fund without legal personality managed by the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, which was founded in 2011 with the sole purpose of promote the internationalization of Spanish companies, facilitating their entry into new markets and positioning it in key markets for the Spanish trade policy, providing for it to finance these companies are not in the financial markets for their projects.

The State Budget Law provides for each year an annual ceiling for authorizing new operations or projects under the FIEM, this limit has remained at 500 million annually, as detailed on the website of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

The granting of this loan of 10,388,903 euros specific purpose is to develop coverage of DTT to all regions of the country by a Spanish company and a Kenyan company. The ultimate intention of this decision taken by the Government is that the project will enable the company to enter the Spanish telecommunications sector in the country , essential to achieve a growth of 10% of GDP.

According to the Government explains, “is the first finance an operation in this sector in the country, involving more than 90% of exported goods and services of Spanish origin.”

While in Spain the audiovisual sector is waiting for the Ministry of Industry Cabinet takes technical plan that provides the roadmap facing the digital dividend. DTT channels must change frequently to free up the current development of 4G mobile technology. This transition should be undertaken as of January 1, 2015.

Industry sources detailing that “is going very late and as the weeks go by the process is complicated.” And it is from the new set-DTT scenario the government will decide how much spectrum gives broadcasters and thus how many channels can be-, the change means that millions of households in Spain have to re antenizarse to see the television, which will lead citizens to have to pay over 500 million euros.
