Facebook and Twitter are competing for the purchase of rights to broadcast programming from conventional television, reported on Thursday the New York Post.
Both companies have contacted executives of the area in search of an agreement, published the Post, citing several people familiar with the situation.
Facebook, which is already in talks with the National Football League for digital rights has met with a number of television executives in recent weeks, sources told the Post.
However, it was unknown how Facebook would issue programs, sources told the newspaper that they heard the idea.
Facebook and Twitter were not immediately available to comment on the report.
