Russia rejects charges of doping German TV – Sports RCN (press release) (blog)

The Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko, on Sunday rejected allegations of doping leveled at the Russian athletes in a documentary by German television ARD broadcast on Saturday, he said result of a power struggle within the IAAF.

“It seems that someone is trying to ruin athletics spreading these stories,” said the minister, quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency. “In any case, it makes sense to start accusations based on this documentary.”

Vitaly Mutko believes that the closeness of the election of the new president of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is no stranger to approach ARD documentary. “The election will take place in August and the struggle for power is soaring.
