The ‘Divergent’ saga will bid farewell with a TV movie – Informador.com.mx

LOS ANGELES (20 / JUL / 2016) .- The American study Lionsgate plans to release “Ascendant”, the latest installment of the sci-fi saga “Divergent” as a television movie in turn, give rise to a spinoff ( “spin-off”) of the post-apocalyptic universe.

As reported today the digital edition of Variety, negotiations about already started but the goal is that the tape, which was to be released late next year, you will finally see the light in film for television.

The first two installments of the franchise ( “Divergent,” 2014, and “Insurgent”, 2015) was a success and raised nearly 600 million dollars. However, the third part, “Allegiant” (2016), prodded and stood at 180 million dollars.

“Ascendant”, planned as the fourth and final installment of the series, was scheduled to debut on the undercard in June 2017, when tapes would face as “World War Z 2″ or new version “The Mummy”.

The study had planned to start shooting the film this summer in Atlanta, but the havoc at the box office of “Allegiant” forced to change the strategy, detailed publication.

Now is the television industry who deal Lionsgate project and the idea is to close the storylines reflected in the franchise with the current deal to then launch a television series with new faces.

Although it is not clear by now that the cast of the series, formed by Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Ansel Elgort, go back for the final installment, which in principle will lead Lee Toland Krieger ( “Age of Adaline”).

The “Divergent” series proposes an action story futuristic presenting a divided into five factions (Truth, Erudition, Friendliness, Daring or Abnegation), which each person must entrust and commit society to the rest of his life to eradicate the baser instincts of human nature.

The films are based on the bestselling novels Veronica Roth.
