Gertrude ‘Topsy’ Hindley never had a television and therefore saw no historical moments of humanity as the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the collapse of the Twin Towers or the arrival of man on the moon, among others.
In its 103 years confesses that instead of spending time watching the small screen was devoted to listening to radio. Her nephew Richard Hindley believes that this is why he has lived so many years.
“I never really aware of what is happening in the world, I think that’s why has lived. It has not been worried because he has never had a television,” said Hindley.
Although friends had the device itself, ‘Topsy’ never bothered to have one, preferring to live in peace.
