Television in Cali – ElEspectador.com

It took three decades to finally there production and television broadcast from the regions. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of many companies in the province, the regional television remains dependent on transfers and subsidies arriving from Bogota, eyedropper, capriciously and without much technical or financial criteria.

Maybe unconsciously like to pay the historical debt to regions- when you think about changing legislation television almost always every five years, national authorities and some congressmen travel the country and forums are made to reflect on the future of the service. The idea is good; apart from promoting tourism, it serves to realize that the challenges are recurring and that there are many pending issues.

A little thinking with desire, I must say that the run of this year is different . After last March in Cartagena, authorities service, congressmen and operators last Friday in Cali met to discuss the future of television. They follow after Medellin, Bucaramanga and Bogota.

Although sometimes the discussions are falling into cliches, should recognize the usefulness of these events in the most crucial in the history of television in Colombia moment. Faced with internet and the multiplicity of screens, public and private operators know that the world of television where they were born ceased to exist and that many will carry the next wave.

The Ministry of ICT, CRC and ANTV are more aware than ever of what is at stake and their historical responsibility. The question is whether among many studies and advisers may coordinate these entities to propose appropriate solutions.

In large part, the future of the audiovisual sector in Colombia depends on a profound legal reform. And although they are not yet designed the outlines of a bill on the matter, it would be good to know what the members of the Sixth Committee of the Senate and House think.
