The Pakistani state television (PTV and PTV World Service in English Service) has resumed its broadcast after being taken on Monday for a few hours by 400 anti-government protesters. Pakistani officials have called the Army, which now issues under control chain, to try to dilute the protests organized against the Government which last for a week now.
“They entered the offices of the PTV” said channel presenter thereof shortly before the screen changed to black. The images broadcast by the string itself showed a crowd of men entering the building after knocking down the door, according to Reuters. The police have used tear gas against protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, for “corruption and electoral fraud,” according to the BBC. Charges that the chief executive denies.
It is unknown whether the prime minister in residence, located a short distance from the area where clashes occur. During the marches against the prime minister, led by former player Jan Cricket and Imran Tahir ul Qadri religious, at least three people were killed and 560 injured. Among the injured are 77 agents of the security forces deployed in the so-called Red Zone.
