Members of an ultranationalist party Nepali attacked with a bomb on fire today the central station of a television provider in Kathmandu for broadcasting channels in India, a country they accuse of blocking the southern border of Nepal and cause a supply crisis in the Himalayan nation.

The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) had demanded to abolish the suppliers, very popular among Nepalis, in retaliation for the alleged blockade Indian channels, one end India has always refused.

The incident occurred around 06.15 local time (00.30 GMT) when six people entered three motorcycles at the headquarters of the satellite TV company Dish Home and threw the device, he told Efe a superintendent of police in Kathmandu, Pitambar Adhikari.

“The incident occurred when security guards were changing shift. We are investigating the incident,” he added.

A spokesman for the CPN-M, Khadga Bahadur Bishwokarma, told Efe responsibility for the attack for that game, but declined to give details.

Bishwokarma had told the Nepali daily Annapurna Post that “Dish Home had missed” the common guidelines given to them, and threatened to attack again “if the company remains the same trend”.

The CEO of the company, Sudip Acharya said that the CPN-M had given a letter a few weeks in which he asked them to cut the Indian channels ago.

“Given that restrict the dissemination of information goes against the spirit of the Constitution of Nepal, we continued to provide the service,” he said.

Despite the attack, Dish Home has continued to broadcast some channels of the neighboring country.

The president of the Federation of Nepal Cable TV, Sudhir Parajuli said the attack is a warning to the industry and criticized the authorities for failing to ensure security.

Southern Nepal bordering India, is the stage for months of protests against the new Nepalese constitution, which includes an administrative division rejected by the Madhesi minority.

The protests included a blockade of the border and the country has been plunged into an acute shortage of commodities, a situation that the Nepali government accuses India for allegedly not be in accordance with the constitution.
