At age 88 after suffering a long neurological illness, he died “Czar” of television, Alejandro Romay. He was born on January 20, 1927 under the name of Argentine Alejandro Saul, in Tucuman, dedicating there to be a radio announcer. He adopted the name Romay in tribute to his childhood idol, football player of Independiente de Avellaneda, Juan Manuel Romay.
At 20 he arrived in Buenos Aires and then to show business joined as Director and radio, television and theatrical entrepreneur. In 1963 he took over as CEO of Channel 9 and changed its name to Canal 9 Libertad.
In the ’70s and’ 90s imposed a style of great popular success in his television channel and Argentina. This often provoked criticism vulgarity directing programming. In 1974 the canal was operated and Tsar went into exile in Puerto Rico. In 1984, with the return of democracy to our country, he returned and purchased by tender Channel 9 and again, despite the negative comments, swept the audience with entertainment programs, novels and news.

It grew to nine works in simultaneous cartel and in 1996 was declared Businessman of the Year. In 1997 he obtained a special mention for their contribution to communication and journalism in Kónex Awards.
Throughout his life was director and owner of Canal 9 Libertad, Channel 9 Parana (Entre Rios) of Resistencia (Chaco), Mar del Plata (Bs.As), Signal 41 of Miami and ABC TV, satellite broadcaster which marketed its products to the world. It also created the “Foundation Alejandro Romay” social and educational action.
Married to Leonor “Lita” Rosio, had four children. Passionate in everything he did, the entertainment world mourned yesterday, bounce TV Czar Don Alejandro Romay.
