The television was dreamed of as a place of educational revolution. More quality, more quantity, more training, more democracy. But television turned out to be entertainment, business, social magic
In education, their failure is so brutal that educational programs not see anyone, not those who make them. People it is believed are bright but not even their programs.
The truth is that for education goes to school, colleges and universities. A television is to relax and not to think.
The paradox is that they are now calling on teachers, students and schools to become entertainers as if they were on television. And this is because television defeated language, aesthetics, formats and excitement to education.
Can we think the TV from the education? Yes, but not only from the teaching-learning (ie as substitute teachers) but on the horizon of building citizenship, social utility, of an ethical society project.
For example, socialize and have what is a country in cultural diversity, human rights perspective in peace. And that is the reality shows, soap operas, comedy shows, movies, news. All programs socialize a model country and society, man and woman, ways of talking, feeling and thinking. And so they are educational.
The television is educational as structuring mechanism of culture, a meeting place for the community and mobilizing center of society.
In this context, television has every day link the obligation to society. Private television should reflect (and hopefully practice) new ways of understanding society to be socially useful and civic education.
Teachers must remember that education is not a hand out and moralities dualisms, but different ways of thinking, it is not memorizing but educational production experiences of incitement, that the classroom comes with everything (TV, technologies, cultures, dialects …) and that the school is a place of bond and connection.
The television is educational when a knowledge dialogue between the pop-millionaires (students) and ilustreducados (teachers) occurs.
Television as education are successful in their contribution to society when they are an experience that provides criteria for citizens to take responsible decisions for yourself.
The television is if educational fascinates, connects, links, tune. Education is TV if we’re excited, connects and mobilizes action.
All television is educational if it reaches the classroom and used as a pretext, context, text mobilizing dialogue knowledge and experience to know how we know that we know together. Something that happens with ‘School +’, an action DirecTV, Discovery and NatGeo.
Television teaches education and teachers to think and learn should tell stories, produce emotions and generate hope. And that is educational television. And that is education.
