The democratic experience in other countries has shown that public broadcasting, when lack of pressure and commercial interests, can and should help to extend the spaces for deliberation and for the dissemination of various cultural and artistic expressions, becoming an example of balanced information, socialization of thought and scientific information, and in general with quality content, absolutely indispensable as an alternative to the society of the spectacle.
This is the case of the Canal IPe because , in its capacity as new public sign of cultural entertainment for children and youth, will enjoy coverage of the national Institute of Radio and Television, the broader national level, which will allow its programming reach remote places of the country, as the border areas, for example, where it is required to strengthen the identity and the national imagination.
it should be noted that the new channel, to be supported by the state budget, without subordinating to commercial priorities, is able to produce and disseminate quality programs, nourished by criteria such as cultural diversity, informational professionalism, dissemination of science, respect for the audience, gender equity and innovation and experimentation, thus strengthening citizens’ right to a appropriate public television.
in this sense, the new signal seeks to meet the demand of Peruvians by a television entertainment aimed at children and youth with cultural emphasis and produced programming from local and regional order to contribute to national integration and recognition of the Peruvian diversity in each of their fields. A plus of the new medium is that most of the staff are young, whose contribution will be essential to the development of communication codes required by modernity.
Peru not only lacks that there is competition in the field of media. We require channels capable of enriching our pluralistic and democratic coexistence, and that is based on public platforms. Of these dimensions is the importance of the Canal IPE that as soon as possible, with all the state support required and all the social demand that merits, count with national media public, without forgetting that public television can claim and maintain that quality should not be confused with government television.
The new channel seeks to meet the demand for Peruvian television entertainment aimed at children and youth with cultural emphasis and produced programming from local.
