The Minister Diego Molano Vega ICT presented the rationale, objectives and impact of the project that will free channels broadcast television 100% of Colombians, especially, to 4 million today have no access to television service.
The ICT Minister Diego Molano Vega announced that thanks to Social TDS: Digital Satellite Television, all Colombians receive signal 16 broadcast TV channels in HD.
“Achieving full coverage of television has been a priority of my task as in 306 municipalities located in rural and remote areas, 4 million Colombians have no access to this service. The Digital Satellite Television corrects the deep social divide and improving signal quality and service for the whole of Colombian households, “said the Minister.
The government will invest 70.413 million pesos for digital television satellite.
To access the new service social TDS must purchase a kit consisting of a satellite receiving antenna and a decoder (set top box) that connect to the TV with a user.
The project involves the adjustment of the current head of RTVC (operator of the national public television) so that it is able to receive all broadcast television signals to issue them on KU band. These signals are then compressed and ready to be sent to a KU-band satellite with coverage throughout the national territory in a way that allows users of the municipalities not yet covered with television signal in our country have the option purchase and install the kit and so enjoy the service. There will also be a line of 24-hour care to address the questions and concerns of the user.
