The cable companies have been on the defensive by the threat that consumers will cut the cable, but Verizon will take the offensive.

Fios, division broadband cable and Verizon officially announce on Monday a new service called “Custom Pay TV” that allows registered customers to choose each month broadcasters who want to see, giving you the opportunity to personalize your experience “a la carte” (similar to having a service streaming as Netflix or Hulu Plus ).

Custom TV service include broadband Internet, 35 basic TV channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo and Univision, for example) and two packages of channels in the genres of children , culture, life style, entertainment, news and information, and two sports packages. Each parcel will be between 10 and 17 chains. The cost for this lot would cost at least $ 65 each month and increases with speed Internet. The user can add other packages for $ 10 more.

The Custom TV service is unique. The industry standard is that the subscription price includes most chains offered by the cable company and helps pay the cost licenses to transmit those chains. Now the cost of the subscription for FiOS is less because users do not have to pay for the channels did not see. Still another difference is that subscribers can change every month package chains that do want to see. So if you want to watch Food Network during the season Iron Chef America , for example, you can change the package to sports when the season ends.

“[Custom TV] is a simple way to that consumers can choose the chains they want without pay for not wanting “he told Phil Burrows, a spokesman for Verizon, CNET in Spanish on Friday. “We listen to the wishes of consumers – the millennials , the cutters and those wishing cable to the letter – and gave them Custom TV, the first in the industry.”

The service Custom FiOS TV will be available beginning Sunday in all markets with FiOS, including New York, California, Texas and Florida.
