Top Five: the most bizarre television pairs – lanacion.com (Argentina)

The current diversity in television programming becomes more evident when a review of best tandems done. Since the game with physical humor girls Broad City, through the immaculate timming comedian who can be seen in Veep to interaction between two programmers and their particular language codes in Silicon Valley, sometimes the best moments in the series come through chemistry between only two players.

Then we We stop in five TV partners to revitalize the small screen every week:

* 1. Wexler and ABBI ABRAMS ILANA in Broad City

  • With the support of Amy Poehler, who not only produces but also directs and acts in one of the episodes of the series, Broad City became one of the most original and solid comedies of recent years. Issued by Comedy Central, it was created by two former students of the Upright Citizens Brigade – sort of mythical school of improvisation which Pohler was part – Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, with a premise that a priori could be trite: follow the lives of two young people in Brooklyn. However, we are not talking about two young universe outputs Girls of Lena Dunham. Ilana and Abbi (characters) live their daily lives almost always drugged without progress labor or sentimentally. The series engine is confined, then, to his hilarious and unpredictable cross Yorkers that highlight the strong bond that unites them and how friendship is always great and inescapable priority. With notable influences of Seinfeld and Louie , the creators of Broad City not only fear of ridicule but make that quality a brilliant art form.

* 2. Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal GRAHAM AND WILL

  • Bryan Fuller is a creator who knows how to please his audience. Far from presenting a product and then be isolated, it is a true enthusiast of what he does and interaction with fans. For this reason, when their pre- Hannibal Three series were canceled (Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies ), he received tremendous support from his fan base, support managed to install a Hannibal in a deserved place of prestige. Gloomy, dense and extremely poetic rereading Fuller did the work of Thomas Harris is mainly characterized by two factors: it is aesthetically impeccable and has a perfect dynamic between its protagonists, Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy. The first is emancipated than they did with Anthony Hopkins as interpretation and fascinating, while the second is pure vulnerability and expressiveness. Both complement that Fuller did not hesitate to include a romantic subtext between them, which was enhanced in the superlative end of the second season (one full of symbolism). Consequently, how are studied, they analyzed and observed Hannibal and Will is the great attraction of the series third season premiere on June 4.

* 3. SELINA MEYER AND GARY WALSH in VEEP

  • To do justice to a great series as it is Veep – arising from Armando Iannucci’s teacher hand – we must highlight the synergy that occurs between all the cast members. It is a political satire based on chaos and, therefore, in most of his scenes all actors are present. In this sense, it is remarkable the level of concentration of all of them and how it works like clockwork that acting dynamics. And speaking of dynamic, we have to mention the strange relationship of the whole series, Selina, president of the United States, and Gary, his assistant. The chemistry between Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale is indisputable and the best gags almost always end perteneciéndoles them. From the romantic gestures of Gary that are ignored by Selina, past fights in which the worst outbursts to everyday situations that resemble a life partner broach, Veep found in that particular link one of its main attractions. For his work, both actors were recognized with Emmy.

* 4. DINESH Chugtai AND BERTRAM Gilfoyle in Silicon Valley

  • In an antagonistic path to formula (depleted) The Big Bang Theory, Silicon Valley , the great creation of Mike You judge for HBO, he was widely exceeded his second season. This sitcom that avoids gender outdated resources, puts the spotlight on a group of friends circumstantial creating a file compression program called Pied Piper. Judge puts everything in one basket: ironies about mass consumption taken from his film The Idiocracy, the bureaucracy of the workplace of his film Office Space and figures inspired by real entrepreneurs, from Mark Zuckerberg to Sean Parker. Within that world, the series has two characters (Dinesh and Gilfoyle) who officiate and programmers who have a love-hate relationship that was one of the highlights of the first season. The dry humor of Martin Starr – almost an heir of Bill Murray – and the lovely way that Kumail Nanjiani responds to the attacks are in the service of subplots that perfectly conform to the great topic of the series (you can Pied Pier finally succeed?). As an example we have the sixth chapter of the second season, in which Dinesh and Gilfoyle are immersed in an initially dark and eventually bright moral dilemma (“Blaine Let Die”).

* 5. SARAH AND HELENA BLACK ORPHAN Manning:

Two sisters link somewhat Special: Helena and Sarah Orphan Black.

  • For more of a chance have alluded to the enormous work done by Tatiana Maslany Orphan Black , work was only recognized at the Critics Choice Awards (whom awarded two consecutive times) and Golden Globe (where he was nominated) but not in the top television awards: Emmy. Maslany is the undisputed star of Orphan Black, science fiction series in which he plays a wide range of clones, why all the weight of history lies in its ability to adapt to each these characters. Two of them, Sarah and Helen Manning (clones / sisters), are complete opposites. On the one hand we have the rebellious and fearless hustler and, on the other, a murderer who was raised by religious fanatics. One would think that between them could never arise a relationship that was the heart of the show and yet, achieved that same Maslany happen. Each encounter and clash of these sisters is shown with the perfect combination of vertigo, humor and lightness, even when circumstances are adverse to them. And while at times the number lost cohesion among so many players when it focuses on the link between Manning sisters it is when you get the best results.
