Emmys are committed to diversity on television – LaTercera (Record)

In the middle of a year where Hollywood has been criticized for its lack of diversity in their productions, both in front and behind the camera, delivering Emmy last night seemed to be the final sample, that is on the screen, the stage is open to change. The biggest surprises came in the latter part of the ceremony. Uzo Aduba African American actresses won Best Actress for Orange Is the New Black, while Viola Davis, for How to Get Away with Murder, did the same in Best Actress, becoming the first black woman to win the Emmy for maximum performance using his speech to also advocate for equal opportunities of gender and race in the industry.

Game of thrones started winning Best Screenplay and Best Drama, as well as Best Actor Peter Dinklage, threatening favoritism Mad Men (which ended this season) in the main categories. And so it was. The, the nominee of the night, HBO epic took Best Drama Series, their first win in this category, after five seasons on the air. Still, Mad Men had its consolation. Jon Hamm, finally got the statuette for Best Actor in a Drama, a category that had lost seven times.
