For many would be great news finally learn that boys and young people will heed their parents and left to see so many hours of television to dedicárselas to study, reading books or playing sports. Maybe that happens sometimes, but the truth is that the main reason is not so much time watching TV is because they changed the habits. Currently watch both screen or more than before, even they joined some smaller such as notebooks, tablets and cell , but no longer see the schedule imposed by the channels, but who choose what to watch, what time and even they dare to make themselves their own content

The fall, however, occurs only in the young adults are also abandoning the traditional way of watching television, although in this case the fall is less noticeable.
The measuring Nielsen, which analyzes the television market for several decades, produced a report confirming that the number of viewers aged 18 to 49 years, on American television, down 25 percent over last year, especially in large networks such as ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. But the sharpest fall occurs with adolescents between 12 and 17 . In 2011, they were seeing an average of 25 hours of television a week and are currently only 15 hours.
The table, prepared by, one of Statista Statistics largest portals in the world, can be the downfall of television audience in the United States. The highest percentage was in the range of 12-17 -as we mentioned earlier-and then followed by the 18 to 24, and finally 25 to 34, maintaining the downward trend although to a lesser extent.
The report notes that adolescents and young people stopped watching TV, the traditional way to record programs and watch them when they want to consume through on demand services like Netflix, or videos directly through YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or snapchat.
In Argentina the situation is similar. Already in 2013 we said we lost several broadcast television rating points compared with recent years. And much of this decline is directly related to changes in habits in young people.
A few years ago a strip as Esperanza Mine starring Lali Esposito -the teen idol of the moment, and Mariano Martinez , had not fallen from 25 points. But today is one of the most watched in our country but with an average of between 13 and 16 points programs.
Something similar happened with Big Brother , which was definitely a success in America. Beyond the change-before it aired channel Telefe the average was 8.1 galas, when years ago not drop below 20 points.
Of course the public, of all ages, returns television sports broadcasts when there is interest, high-impact news or some fiction much success, but not enough. The challenge is to capture them and keep them as long as possible.
A few years ago the challenge of broadcast TV was fighting cable. Today the battle is more complex against cell televisions, programs against social networks alive against on-demand . A robin looking for guys, teenagers, young adults and everything that means good numbers and audience ratings.
