Just to welcome 2015, so what better time than now to look back and collect the best TV series 2014 in an article; and that is, as we discussed last week, the small screen is experiencing a new heyday, becoming overwhelming number of excellent series present in the grills and services streaming .
We have included both series with multiple seasons as other debutantes, in addition to a special mention at the end of the second page to fictions that have not been part of the final list, but quality abundance and deserve to be seen.
As always, have enabled the comments area that you may tell us what your favorites are or if ye lay in a fault in the selection.
Game of Thrones
first and second season of Game of Thrones were very good, but it was the third that left us all with his mouth open with the Red Wedding, thinking that hardly would see something more barbarous in the future. However, in the fourth, Purple Wedding was a real show, like the overwhelming combat between Mountain and Oberyn (and some other momentazo more). It is true that media HBO takes its licenses, and increasingly more will follow his path, but that does not detract one iota of quality to its setting, characterization and shaping of the complex goings-West and Essos. Dorne, here we come!
Hijos Anarchy
Seven seasons. Ninety-two episodes accompanying the biker gang Sons of Anarchy in his dark adventures in the fictional town of Charming. The number of Kurt Sutter has everything: violence, sex, love, rape, death, friendship, kidnapping, treason … But above all, charismatic characters who, although not exactly saints they know go deeper. Obviously these would not be as memorable without the fantastic deal that gives them life (Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Ron Perlman …). Special mention also for its great soundtrack. If you have not heard, you know.
Boardwalk Empire
Another magnificent work that ended in 2014. Terence Winter , award-winning writer of The Sopranos and the Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese , Boardwalk Empire is set in Atlantic City in the 20s, when Prohibition was ravaging the United States, and is built around the figure of Enoch “Nucky” Thompson ( Steve Becemi ), which controls the city at will and feels equally comfortable in his role as gangster politician. A period drama founded on an absorbing atmosphere, artistic photography, great characters (and actors) and an engaging story, which does not shun violence and explicit sex scenes.
True Detective
Yes, we know, and we got into the story of best series premiered in 2014; but by no means we would ignore their quality and leave her out of this selection, when the best that has passed through the screens this year. And is that Nic Pizzolatto dazzled critics and audiences with the grim and compelling finding a bloody mass murderer and his fateful impact on the lives of those who are investigating. This success would not have been the same without the magnificent Matthew McConaughey (Rust Cohle) and Woody Harrelson (Marty Hart) in the lead roles.
The Americans
The Americans are facing another costume drama, although more recent than Boardwalk Empire. Its creator, Joe Weisberg , former CIA agent, takes us back to the eighties, during the presidency of Ronald Reagan, during the Cold War. The plot revolves around a pair of Soviet spies (played by Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys ) to pose as a respectable American marriage. Despite its leisurely pace, the series captures you with its tension, intrigue and suspicion. Also achieved notable for its ambience and character development sided
Orange is the New Black
Created by Jenji Kohan and based on the autobiographical book titled Piper Kerman, this dramedy set in a women’s prison tells the story of Piper Chapman ( Taylor Schilling ), a wealthy young man who enters prison for a crime of drug trafficking. The main attraction of the series of Netflix lies in the evolution of Chapman and his -amigable or conflicting, as the case might coexistence with other prisoners, whom we meet further through flashbacks . OITNB, supported by a black humor, you are cheating with its motley cast of characters and a fantastic performance of its distribution.
Hannibal
This macabre Thriller psychological, created by Bryan Fuller , is about Will Graham ( Hugh Dancy ), an FBI agent who has the ability to empathize with the murderers he investigates and rebuild their crimes. However, when you run into a case that resists, uses the renowned psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter-and caníbal- ( Mads Mikkelsen ) for help. The series on their menu with a disturbing atmosphere (thanks to the perfect game lighting, staging, framing …), hard characters, explicit violence and blood, lots of blood.
