Colombian pay TV matches the ratings of free TV – Rapid TV News Spain

The pay TV continues to grow in Colombia, determined to lead the penetration and business throughout Latin America, and now has equaled for the first time, the ratings open its competitor, according to a report LAMAC.

The research of Latin American Multichannel Advertising Council, supported by IBOPE says that an average of 1.28 million people a day watched pay-TV May 2015, the highest amount in history, which meant a rating of 6.76%, very close to the rating of free TV figure for the same month, 6.82%.

In relation to prime-time, the paid television audience grew by more than 70,000 spectators, while the air TV lost nearly 34,000 during the same interval. The same trend is seen in other slots. 63,000 more viewers during the day-time, 46,000 more during the early-time and 7,000 more during the late-time

Other signals such as participation Audience (SOA) or part-time care (ATS) also point, the report LAMAC at a very favorable scenario for Colombian pay TV. The country already has more than eight million subscribers, a 61% penetration, and many of them are grouped around the supply cable course.

Analysts LAMAC conclude that the numbers point to a changing habits among Colombians, who are increasingly choosing pay TV rather than the offer open, a trend of consumption will also open new opportunities for advertisers.
