Now James plans to explore this issue as part of “Survivor’s Remorse”, a new comedy program developed with the Starz. Although James did not star in will be one of the executive producers half-hour program, which will explore the lives of two ordinary men who manage to be famous – one of which is an NBA star and the other not, and how take their relationship with their family and friends after success.
“I think the main thing for us is first of all, get to a place where you’re not supposed to be. You’re supposed to be static and finish like a slum people – (and is) one of the few that succeeds and everyone to see you as El Salvador, “said superstar Miami Heat in a telephone interview last week.
“When you make it all have expectations, you automatically think they did it with you and it is very difficult for a young black man 18 do not feel the responsibility for the whole city, an entire community. I feel I can identify with that too, “said James, who began playing for the NBA at 18 years and is a veteran of 28.
James developed the program with his old friend and partner Maverick Carter, with Tom Werner, the producer behind classic shows as “Roseanne” and “The Cosby Show”, and actor Mike O’Malley, who is a producer executive and is the writer for the show. Paul Wachter will also executive produce.
“Definitely not an autobiographical series about my life or the life of LeBron, it’s about living fictional characters in a fictional world,” Carter said, before adding with a laugh: “Actually LeBron is too famous, would spoil the program if I tried to do a show on it. “
The program is developed in North Philadelphia instead of Akron, Ohio, where they are Carter and James: “Most people can relate to that,” Carter explained the choice of the city.
Despite this
Werner said the inspiration for the series began in part because of the talks he had with Carter and then with James about their lives.
“I imagine the contrast of rich and return home in Akron and the neighborhood where they are – the difference is quite large, and I think that’s material for a very interesting story,” he said.
Werner, James and Carter have worked together since 2011. They are part of Fenway Sports Group, and Werner is president of the organization that combines sports, media and shows. Werner said he was “happy” to introduce the new program that is in development but has not yet set a date for presentation on Starz.
Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said the program will be somewhat different for the channel whose programming includes the recently released “The White Queen”.
“It’s a contemporary piece, we’ve been looking for,” he said. “But especially is an opportunity to take us to a world where we are producers and are hugely talented writer and I think that will take the audience on a journey with interesting fun and good humor.”
Although there will be serious issues. Werner compared “Survivor’s Remorse” to shows like “Roseanne”, which mixes humor with drama.
“We will not kill anyone and no one will die of cancer in the program,” said Carter. “It’s light, but they are real-life stories.”
James said that although it’s been years still feel responsibility for their community and even a bit of guilt for his success.
“I live with that, knowing that I have to carry a heavy load in tow and a responsibility that people can not imagine,” he said.
