Santiago Andrade was covering protests by increasing the transport rates in the center of Rio de Janeiro for the tv Band when he was hit by a bomb thrown by protesters, said the police.

After being wounded in the head, cameraman was transferred to the Souza Aguiar Hospital, where he died today after being admitted for several days in critical condition, told Efe, the press center.

Authorities arrested Sunday on suspicion of a protester launching the pyrotechnic against Andrade. The youth, identified as Fábio Barbosa Raposo, 22, was designated by the Civil Police as a co-explosive offenses and attempted homicide against the cameraman.

Raposo admitted Saturday to chain Globo TV that he was holding the artifact, as it was found in images captured by television, but said it was not him who threw it, but someone else.

“Our main objective is to identify the person who blew the engine that reached Santiago. In images, he (Raposo) passes the firecracker who blew it, “said the delegate of the Civil Police during a press conference on Saturday.

The head of the General Department of Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, José Pedro Costa, argued that when the engine gave Raposo knew he would be released and “that is being treated as co-author.”
