RIO DE JANEIRO – At least seven people were injured on Monday when a television camera fell from a height of more than 18, 3 meters (60 feet) in the area of the Olympic Park outside the headquarters of basketball games, the latest setback for the Games in Rio.
the huge chamber was one of several that are suspended cables and featuring aerial shots of the main Olympic Park. The operator, Olympic Broadcasting Service (OBS) reported that a pair of guidewires burst, causing his camera fell to a lower lobby that opens the way to the Arena Carioca 1.
Amateur British Chris Adams said he heard when a cable broke, and then saw the camera to fall and hit two women.
“it looked like a flying saucer down from heaven when he hit those two women,” he said. “This thing is huge, and came from above. He fell so fast that they could not see it not. No waiting for her”.
The severity of injuries have not been disclosed. The organizers of the Games in Rio indicated that at least one woman was taken to a hospital. The OBS explained that medical personnel at the scene described the injuries as “minor” and has launched an investigation into the incident.
Adams said the two women were conscious and medical personnel arrived quickly to remove them on stretchers.
it is the latest in a series of problems that have plagued the Games in Rio, including the death of a policeman for the safety of the Olympic who was shot in the head in a favela , attacks on a group of American swimmers and two coaches Australian rowing team and a stray bullet at the Olympic venue of equestrian competitions.
