Technicians of the Telecommunications (SIT) suggested to the Executive the change process because the country has not kept pace with the rest of Latin America, says a publication of the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency.
Change, according to the president of Guatemala, Otto Perez Molina, allow the state to provide public services such as health, safety and education, the spectrum of radio and internet broadband television would stop using.
SIT and the Cabinet have a month to make the necessary inquiries to determine what the system could be used in Guatemala.
In the Central American country need not change their TV Guatemalans because there is a converter to receive digital signals with more clarity and sharpness, according to the president.
Technological modification would be established through a Government Order and give a reasonable period of 4 to 5 years to make the change.
