Open Digital Television will cover 80% of the country in 2015 - Venezuelan News Agency

Caracas, Apr 26. AVN. – The Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Manuel Fernández emphasized that in 2015 is expected to reach 80% national coverage DTV transmission Open (TDA).

“This year our commitment to the people of Venezuela is to cover 10% and reach 60% of the population, and in 2014 10% to 70%,” he explained from Maracaibo, Zulia state, where the president of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, inspected homes under construction.

Fernandez said that thanks to the collaboration with Argentina has managed to overcome deployability “and hope for 2015 we will be closer to 80% coverage, with the four attributes of television: higher quality, greater diversity, mobility and interactivity. “

Since last February 20 in the country began distributing Open Digital TV decoders (TDA) to those families who do not have subscription television nor the resources to access this service.

In its first phase, the AD reached the 13 cities with the highest population, according to data from the Census of Population and Housing, 2011, and this year will include new locations in seven other cities and in the Capital District.

For the second phase, the TDA signal will reach the city of Merida; Acarigua, Portuguesa State, High Mirandinos in Miranda Caricuao in the Capital District, City Bolivar in Bolivar, El Tigre, Anzoategui , Cumana, Sucre and Nueva Esparta.

To date, the Government has delivered more than 170,000 computers.
