MTV series debuts app - El Nuevo Herald

class=”dateline”> NEW YORK – MTV launched its mobile app Friday entire season of a new series about a football team without a lot of a high school, a week before that the first episode was transmitted on television.

seems to be a new milestone in the fast paced world of technology that changes the content and traditional television consumption, as when Netflix released the full season of “House of Cards” in its live streaming service. MTV The free app is available for iPhone, iPad, iPod and the Xbox 360 from June, and nearly 2 million have downloaded.

series, “Wait ‘Til Next Year” is a 12-episode docudrama on a football team from a high school that has lost 43 games in a row, and the surrounding community.

“Let’s see if we can get people to watch it on television again,” said Kristin Frank, executive vice president of MTV connected content.

That’s always been a concern of the chains on new forms of content distribution, as the financial underpinnings of the business still depends largely on viewers see programs-and TV-commercials. But MTV would imagine that many people who see the series in the app itself will become a promotion vehicle, commenting on social media and urging others to see it on TV.

MTV promotion also recently underwent “flock to unlock” (Add up to unlock) with Miley Cyrus. The chain promised to launch “extras” from his documentary “Miley: The Movement” in the app, as long as a certain number of viewers it demanded for Twitter. They did and, indeed, the followers that “destrabaron” additional material successfully MTV gave him free advertising on the Internet.

During the experiment

Cyrus, MTV reported an increase of 82% in the number of people who downloaded the application, from one week to another, according to the chain.
