Shot dead in Honduras television cameraman - Terra.com

television cameraman, Free linked to opposition party of former President Manuel Zelaya, was found dead in a neighborhood of the capital, becoming the 37th communicator killed in Honduras since 2003, reported Friday a humanitarian organization.

“The body of the cameraman Manuel Murillo, 32, was found in the La Independencia (west of the capital) with three shots to the head,” he told AFP alerts responsible for non-governmental Committee for the Free Expression (C-Libre), Miriam Elvir.

He said Murillo

“was taken from his home by unknown, Colonia Kennedy (east), about one in the afternoon of Wednesday and the body was found on Thursday afternoon.”

added that the Human Rights Commission had issued precautionary measures in favor of Murillo since 2010. On February 10 of that year, the cameraman had been “tortured in a secret prison by plainclothes police he could identify one of their videos.”

staff cameraman had been ousted President Manuel Zelaya and his last job was with Globo TV, the channel identified with the deposed president and the new left party Freedom and Refundación (Free).

spokesman state Human Rights Commissioner (CONADEH), Julio Velasquez, Murillo reported that 37 people are already linked to media killed in Honduras since 2003.

previous case was that of journalist northern region Anibal Barrow, whose dismembered body was found last July, days after he was kidnapped.

Velasquez recalled that only one such case has been resolved by the authorities.
