Uruguay have nine new digital TV channels from Thursday, after a long process of assessment to projects by the government of President José “Pepe” Mujica.

Montevideo (capital) were awarded two channels, Saomil SA (VTV) and another at the Giro Consortium, representing the newspaper The Daily, rejecting other proposals.
