Within 24 hours of the expiration of the tender for digital television, Channel 4 bought the tender and became the first private channel to get air.
On May 8, President Jose Mujica ordered the resumption of the call to interested in obtaining permission to offer digital television services in Montevideo, which had suspended the January 23 .
The call enables traders that there are five in Montevideo (the three private channels and two new proposals) that produce digital television, to which are added three other public sector channels and two the community sector.
