Rights Management Association of Audiovisual Producers (Egeda) denounced the proliferation of “multitude of online TV platforms and some offline without appropriate administrative concessions” threatening the TV market in Spain.
After announcing a two-year renewal of its agreement with Telefónica (Madrid: TEF.MC – News) for the broadcasting of audiovisual works in the different modes in which the operator acts Egeda noted that this “friendly policy Telefónica “with intellectual property rights contrasts with that of other operators ‘pirates’.
In this regard, he notes, that while one hundred percent of the cable operators and IPTV legally established in Spain have Egeda authorization for retransmission of audiovisual works in recent years have proliferated crowd TV platforms “without any control and of course without the authorization to issue, transmission or retransmission of audiovisual products of any kind, either fiction, or sports events”.
