In theater shared the stage in 2009 with Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis and Marcia Gay in a celebrated production of “God of Carnage” Broadway in which he won a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor. He also participated in “On the Waterfront” with David Morse.
Gandolfini’s performance in “The Sopranos” marked his career, but he refused to be estereotiparan as burly mafioso going to psychotherapy, loved his family and not tempt the heart to kill.
When finished the series of David Chase, Gandolfini was devoted to cinema with several comedies and political satire “In the Loop” and the poignant drama “Welcome to the Rileys,” in which he starred with Kristen Stewart. He also did the voice of Wild Thing Carol in “Where the Wild Things Are”.
In a December 2012 interview with The Associated Press, said Gandolfini came to acting as a release, a way to end his rage. “I do not know why I was angry,” he said.
“I try to avoid some things and some kind of violence at this point,” he said. “I’m getting old. Already do not want to keep beating people, I do not hit women and those kids.”
