British mobile phone group Vodafone has made a friendly offer of 7,700 million euros for the first German cable operator, Kabel Deutschland group .
“The Executive Board and the Supervisory Board of Kabel Deutschland plan to recommend that shareholders accept the offer ” Vodafone said in a statement.
Vodafone offers 87 euros per share
Vodafone’s offer could push other operators interested in Kabel, American Liberty Global, has launched another bid for the German group.
8.5 million subscribers and 1,700 million euros of annual turnover, Kabel Deutschland is the largest cable operator in Germany, it operates in 13 of the 16 Länder (regional states) the country.
This transaction would allow Vodafone, already present in the mobile phone sector in Germany, to expand into Internet and television. According to his calculations, it would save about 300 million euros in synergies to acquire Kabel.
