American Idol Driver occur in Telemundo - Miami Herald

class=”dateline”> NEW YORK – Ryan Seacrest, host of American Idol, will produce a new music program for Telemundo in which two established artists will be competing for the audience vote.

The format of the series “Superstar Showdown” has been successful in other countries. The president of Telemundo Media, Emilio Romano, said he was confident that the host of “American Idol” will use their contacts and influence to attract talented artists. The network has not publicly set a date to start the series.

The new program was one of several announcements made at Sunday Telemundo programming detail their plans for next season.

Telemundo had the highest ratings in its history during the first three months of 2013. “We have been the latter for many years, but we received the mission to fight and fight hard,” said Romano.

Romano said Telemundo trust that can differentiate themselves from their competition by soap operas created specifically for the U.S. market in mind, instead of remaking the series originated in other countries. He expected to be more targeted to an audience concerned about immigration issues and nostalgic of the countries they left behind.

An example he gave was an adaptation made last year in the film “Maid in Manhattan”.

Telemundo also announced the creation of a production studio in Los Angeles called “Fluency” (Fluency), which will produce content for U.S. Latinos both in Spanish and English.

Telemundo is also expanding its sports coverage. The weekly “Headlines and More” will air every night from Monday to Friday at 11:35 pm. The network will also start a game day program in which young people compete against adults.
