As reported GamesIndustry International, Microsoft filed a patent last November. In his description suggests that “watching TV is a passive experience for the viewer, without many opportunities for the viewer to have interactive experiences with advertisers. To increase interactivity and encourage the viewer to see one or more pieces of content video, awards and achievements can be linked to that content. “

“Additionally, by linking these awards and achievements a particular video content or advertising, you can encourage viewers to increase their loyalty to content, increasing advertising possibilities.”

The details are not too specific, but the patent explains assumptions and achievements to be granted the see a whole series or to view special events like the Super Bowl.

GamesIndustry go even further, ensuring that Microsoft Kinect would have arisen linking the act of watching television, giving achievements to perform certain actions – like using a product – while watching a certain program or advertisement.
