Ang Lee on his television directorial debut: "I feel a ... - The Trade

(AP) . The award-winning filmmaker Ang Lee came to the island to support the film industry of the place, before starting in the United States for his first television series Tyrant (“Tyrant”) and after rejecting the direction of “Cleopatra “.

Lee, who came at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture, will meet with the Taiwanese film industry and participate in two programs having personalities of culture and politics of the island.

“The ultimate goal of this visit is to encourage our film industry” , Lee said upon arrival at Taoyuan International Airport, located about 50 miles from downtown Taipei.

Over his career plans, Lee said he had rejected many manuscripts received in recent months, including the film “Cleopatra”, expected to star in Jolie Agelina.

A ROOKIE
The next project of Taiwanese director, lives in New York, is a television series, “Tyrant” (“Tyrant”), about an American family into a convulsive Middle East.

The series, which will begin filming in August or September, is produced by the FX cable channel in the Fox television network in the United States.

“I’m a newbie on TV, so I face a new experience” , said Lee, who is already working on the pilot episode of the series.

Lee, winner of two Oscars for best director in 2005 and 2012, will leave Taiwan on May 12.
