Contracts on television via pay per view (PPV ) decreased Spain in a year almost a million (859 935 operations less), according to data collected in a report by the Commission Telecommunications Market (CMT).

The year 2012 closed with shopping 1,571,597, 2,431,533 contrasting with the previous year. Gone are the 3.4 million applications for ‘pay per view’ made in 2009 or seven million made in 2008.
Of the 1.5 million contracts, the vast majority were movies (1478543). Football has been reduced in this business and residual volume after the presence of the two groups of rights holders ( Mediapro and Canal +) in television platforms and telecom operators that dominate television pay. The 2012 ended with the purchase of only 3,020 games, compared to the 623 503 2010 or 2008 3361212.
According to the latest data that the regulator, 24.2% of Spanish households are subscribed to a pay TV service, including both pay-TV services that are offered on satellite and IP television and cable.
“Eight out of ten households mentioned as a reason for not having a paid service the fact free television that they found enough. The second reason was to consider that pay television is expensive, “says the report.
